What a busy summer so far! These silly sparklers have been non-stop. We started off at Walt Disney World for a week which was some much needed fun in the sun. Kayla then jumped right into magic camp where she learned some tricks that had even myself fooled. Magic camp was followed by Equestrian Camp, Circus Camp and Gymnastics Camp with Cameron. This brings us to 4th of July where we will soon be hanging out with friends at the pool and spend the evening under a firework lit sky. Can’t wait! Kayla still has 3 weeks of science camp and 2 weeks of another gymnastics camp left. Not to mention dance class two days a week, gymnastics one day and swim three days a week with some sleepovers sprinkled in. I told you she’s busy! I don’t know how she doesn’t pass out the second she gets home. Wish I had her energy. Our grand summer finale will be a trip to San Diego including visits to Legoland and Sea World.
Cameron has been having fun just going along for the ride. He did amazing on our flight to Florida. He’s usually very nervous about take off and landing and has been known to scream rather loud. I’m happy to report zero screaming on the way back! He’s growing so fast but you still wouldn’t want to meet him in a dark alley if he’s either lacking sleep or food. We’ll get there…baby steps. He’s also getting very clever, for example, the other day he made a spitting sound we’ve talked about not doing anymore. I said, “Cameron, remember…” and before I could finish he said, “You get what you get and you don’t get upset!” How dare he use my own words against me? Kayla and I just laughed and laughed.
Cameron also got upset one recent night because I wouldn’t let him have a 4th popsicle (don’t ask why he had three already). He walked off to bed crying and I could hear Kayla greet him at bed…
“Cameron, are you sad because you want a popsicle?”
“Yes,” he replied sadly.
“Cameron, there are kids in the world who have no food and no drinks. They have nothing at all! Would it be fair if you had four popsicles and they had none?”
“Yes,” he replied sadly.
“OK, Cameron four popsicles would be way too much sugar before bed. We don’t want to get a cavity, OK?”
“OK,” he replied concededly and went to bed.
This girl blows my mind sometimes. She’s always felt like an old soul and I don’t know what I’d do without her. She helps me out with Cameron and life in general so much, she just gets things. Her current favorite pastimes include playing games like Uno, war and Guess Who, jumping on the trampoline and swimming. Kayla want’s to be an artist and a ballerina when she grows up and misses kindergarten. I can’t believe she’ll be in 1st grade in the fall.
Cameron STILL loves cars, trains and dinosaurs but mostly cars. He will carry a car or bag of cars with him wherever he goes. He wishes he did not have to go to school everyday or wear pants and dislikes lots of change. He loves swimming, candy and his mama. I am a sucker for this kid and he knows it!
Happy Summer!!!
